David Curtiss

Development Coordinator

Born and raised in South Central LA, David has cultivated a lifelong commitment to uplifting the priorities of Black and Brown people through his values, education, and practice. In 2018, he graduated from American University with a B.A. in Sociology and Justice & Law, where he studied and conducted research on the various intersections between race, education, and criminalization in both the U.S. and globally. This experience fueled his passion to support organizations working to reform justice systems and practices, specifically in the realm of development and strategic fundraising to help Black-led organizations achieve sustainability and scale their work. Prior to joining Policing Equity, David provided development capacity to various grassroots racial justice and public policy organizations in the Los Angeles area, and first began cultivating development and fundraising experience through The Building Hope Project, a student sponsorship and leadership development organization he began in Uganda that creates pipelines for Black Americans to experience ethical international volunteerism.
