Today, Center for Policing Equity released the following statement on the confirmation of Jeff Sessions as the new Attorney General:
“We are disappointed by the vote confirming Senator Jeff Sessions as the new U.S. Attorney General. His record on criminal justice, equality, and inclusion runs counter to what this nation stands for and to the work we and so many others do.
“However disappointing, Sessions’ confirmation is also a clarion call to all who labor on the side of justice that regardless of the role that the federal government chooses to play, it is important to reaffirm CPE’s core belief that the values of fairness, justice, and dignity make police better, communities safer, and America stronger. We stand committed to continuing this critical work.”
