The Center for Policing Equity and the City of Roanoke have launched a three-year partnership to improve the Roanoke Police Department’s trust and safety with residents. More specifically, CPE will analyze data provided by RPD on use-of-force numbers, vehicle stops, calls for service, and officer-initiated activity, and develop recommendations for how RPD and the City can improve equity in public safety and create data-driven strategies for future initiatives.
“Partnering with the Center for Policing Equity is a valuable opportunity to use proven, data-driven strategies to support our ongoing efforts at increasing public safety, reducing harm, and promoting equitable policing in Roanoke,” said City Manager Valmarie Turner.
“This partnership will help us develop more initiatives to make Roanoke safer for all.”
