Center for Policing Equity -

New Haven, CT – Today, the Center for Policing Equity (CPE) extends its deepest condolences to the families of the 19 innocent children and two teachers who were murdered today in this nation’s most recent mass shooting–this time at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. Today our hearts are in Uvalde. We grieve with the families of those lost in this horrific act of violence and hold them in our hearts. We send all hope for healing to the survivors battling for their lives, and strength to the families of Robb Elementary School who must now live with the trauma this day has caused.

That Uvalde – a small, tight-knit community outside of San Antonio – now holds a place in history alongside Parkland, Columbine, Sandy Hook, and countless other senseless school shootings is an infuriating sign that we as a country have failed appallingly to keep even our children, the most vulnerable and precious among us, safe and is a grim reminder of this country’s traumatic history. 27 school shootings have occurred this year alone. We refuse to become inured to the horror.

CPE stands with the families of Uvalde and remains committed to the work of redesigning public safety in partnership with all good-faith stakeholders, so that the nightmare of these kinds of killings need never happen to the friends, children, and loved ones we all hold so dear. Every day, CPE's efforts will be devoted to ending the daily terror of violence in all our communities.
