Disparate treatment of people of color by San Diego police is real. We need change, not platitudes.

From the article: "On Thursday came a new independent report — by the nonprofit Center for Policing Equity — commissioned by the San Diego Police Department itself. The review of pedestrian and traffic stops and use of force from 2016 to 2020 found people of color — especially Black people — are stopped, searched and subjected to force at higher rates than White people. The study used regression analysis of poverty and crime rates to undercut previous claims that such statistics were driven by high rates of Black homelessness or other factors. It found that even when accounting for these factors, Black pedestrians were far more likely to be subject to use of force."
