A week after a Rochester grand jury concluded there wasn't sufficient evidence to bring any criminal charges in connection with the death of Daniel Prude, the community must somehow move ahead, without immediate closure.

The outstanding question of who needs to be accountable is one that only the community can answer, according to Dr. Tracie Keesee, a 25-year veteran of the Denver Police Dept. who also spent three years with the NYPD working on training and diversity.

Keesee's work includes advising cities on how they can reconstruct their police departments and improve relations with communities of color. She is a co-founder and senior VP of Justice Initiatives at the Center for Policing Equity and is consulting with the City of Ithaca on its police reform plans. The center has worked with over 45 departments nationally over the past decade..."
