Oakland officials are unveiling a new neighborhood policing initiative designed to strengthen ties to individual neighborhoods. The Oakland Police Department will make high-ranking officers responsible for smaller geographical areas to help the police force build stronger ties with residents. This plan, devised by Robert Wasserman, is designed to stretch a shrunken police force more effectively and cut crime rates across the city. Read more here.
