About the Center for Policing EquityThe Center for Policing Equity uses evidence-based approaches to social justice problems and conducts research to create levers for social, cultural, and policy change.

Position DescriptionThe Center for Policing Equity is looking for a skilled Relationship Manager with a passion for social justice.The Relationship Coordinator will seek out new law enforcement partnerships and manage existing partnerships for theCenter’s National Justice Database (NJD) project. The NJD is the nation’s first and largest collection of standardized police behavior (e.g., vehicle stops,pedestrian stops, use of force, complaints against officers, etc.). The Relationship Manager will work directly with law enforcement personnel to manage their participation in the NJD project. Leveraging data collected through the NJD,CPE provides reports and recommendations to participating departments with the ultimate goals to reduce racially burdensome policing and to empower police departments to improve relationships with the communities they serve. The Relationship Manager reports directly to the NJD Project Director.

Key Responsibilities

  • Outreach to Law Enforcement agencies by phone and in person to recruit Police Chiefs/Agencies to participate in the project
  • Relationship management with assigned law enforcement agencies in long-term, ongoing project
  • Regular written and oral progress updates

Qualifications:

  • Retired or former Command Level Law Enforcement
  • Conversant in law enforcement related and social justice issues
  • Able to create and deliver presentations to law enforcement and other groups
  • Positive, data/results-driven attitude about law enforcement transformation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other technology-related programs
  • Self-starter and personally/professionally driven

Additional Skills and Requirements:

  • Occasional travel for training and to meet with Law Enforcement agencies
  • Training to achieve proficiency in understanding and acquiring police report data
  • Works collaboratively with other CPE teamsand consultants
  • Assists in the training of new employees and other duties as assigned
