V Thompkins

V Thompkins joined CPE in June 2021 as a Data Analyst in the Science Program. In their role at CPE, V contributes to the Science Program’s data infrastructure efforts and conducts quantitative analysis to answer key questions about public safety service demand and inform efforts to redesign public safety systems. V has a Master of Public Administration with a Certificate in Data Analytics from Northeastern University, which culminated in a thesis pertaining to the use of algorithmic risk assessments in the criminal legal system.

Prior to joining CPE, V was a Senior Policy & Data Specialist at the Crime and Justice Institute at Community Resources for Justice (CJI), providing technical assistance, conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis, and validating risk assessment instruments in jurisdictions across the United States. V also previously worked at the Brennan Center for Justice conducting research and data analysis for a study pertaining to the use of fines and fees, contributing to a study examining the economic impact of mass incarceration, and reporting on national crime trends.
