Keiana West

Keiana joined CPE in April 2022 as a Senior Coordinator on the Community Engagement team. In her role, she works to empower community members across the country to advocate for more just and equitable approaches to public safety that reduce harm against marginalized folks and invest in systems of communal care.

Keiana’s experience in racial equity work spans youth empowerment, community organizing, academic research, public history, public education, and program evaluation. Beginning this work in her hometown of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, she co-developed a social justice leadership program with a transformative justice framework for BIPOC middle school students. Before joining CPE, she worked in Montgomery, Alabama at the Equal Justice Initiative to combat mass incarceration through paralegal work, public education, and supporting grassroots efforts to confront the legacies of enslavement and racial violence throughout the Deep South and across the country. She has also worked internationally in post-Apartheid South Africa to develop and implement monitoring & evaluation practices at an educational sponsorship program for children impacted by the wealth gap.

Keiana holds a B.A. in Psychology and a concentration in Africana Studies from Williams College. In her free time, she loves to travel, dance, attempt to cook new meals, and bring together loved ones.
