Juanisha Byrd, MPH

Juanisha Byrd is an Impact & Engagement Manager for the Public Safety Innovations team at the Center for Policing Equity. Since joining in May 2021, she has served as the COMPSTAT for Justice, Public Health Implementation Specialist. In this role, Juanisha developed public health implementation strategies and provided statistical analyses to law enforcement agencies to support efforts to reduce racial disparities in policing outcomes. Currently, she leads initiatives and partnerships to redesign public safety, focusing on replacing punitive systems with compassionate care.

Before joining the Center for Policing Equity, Ms. Byrd played a significant role in combating communicable diseases with the DeKalb County Board of Health and leading efforts to implement evidence-based practices within the Cobb County Government, integrating science-based interventions to improve health and safety for vulnerable communities. Juanisha has dedicated her public health career to improving health outcomes for vulnerable populations and increasing access to healthcare services through education and advocacy. She holds a BS in Public Health from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and an MPH from Benedictine University.
