Ricardo Chavira

Senior Vice President for Communications & Development

Ricardo joined The Center for Policing Equity in November of 2021 as the Senior Vice President of Communications and Development. In this role, he oversees all external communications and fundraising efforts for the organization.

Prior to this position, Ricardo was the Associate Vice President of Marketing and Communications for the Gary Sinise Foundation. In this role, Ricardo inherited a department of one, and quickly scaled a high-performing team of nine that helped lead the foundation to its most successful fundraising year ever. In 2020 the foundation raised over $51 million from more than 120,000 donors. This represented 60% increase in revenue and 140% increase in donors from his start date two years earlier.

Ricardo graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a B.A. in Marketing. He has led marketing, communications, and fundraising efforts for the L.A. County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC), the L.A County Museum of Art (LACMA), L.A.’s only food cooperative (Co-opportunity), and RE/MAX.

Earlier in his career he worked in Mexico City as a News Assistant for The Dallas Morning News, and as a Marketing and Communications Coordinator for the Mund Group, a public policy and market research firm in Mexico.

In his free time, Ricardo enjoys spending time with his wife/former college sweetheart and their dog Rudy. He can often be found at the original muscle beach in Santa Monica, or at a L.A. Chargers game in SoFi stadium.
