Mawia Khogali, PhD

Mawia Khogali holds a Ph.D. in Psychology and Law from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Her dissertation examined the role of community members' race in police officers’ perceptions of resistance, disrespect and judgments about use of force. 

She was previously a research associate in the policing program at the Vera Institute of Justice, where she contributed to a variety of projects aimed at shifting the national policing discourse, reimagining police management, and improving police-community relations in historically marginalized communities. 

Since joining CPE in 2019, Mawia has contributed to the portfolio of the NJD and C4J programs through programmatic development and product design.
